BEST MANAGEMENT PRACTICES (BMP)

Plastic bottles, wooden pallets and oil filters have been banned from North Carolina landfills as of October 1, 2009.

State law defines a rigid plastic container as a container having a neck smaller than it’s body and accepts a screw top, snap cap, or other closure. A wooden pallet is defined as a wooden object consisting of flat or horizontal deck or platform supported by structural components that is used as a base for assembling, stacking, handling, and transporting goods. Motor oil filters are filters that removes impurities from the oil used to lubricate an internal combustion engine in a motor vehicle.

BMP: Make every effort to remove these items from your waste before sending to the county landfills. Recycling in Robeson County is free with ten (10) collection sites throughout the county.

Robeson County’s twelve (12) manned collection sites throughout the county collect free of charge the following items: white goods, brown goods, lead-acid batteries, used oil, recyclable aluminum, yard waste, limbs and brush. Twice a year at five (5) collection sites pesticide containers are accepted.

BMP: To help save our environment, take all the above items to the collection site nearest you.
